We are proud to announce that Dr. Denise Mirasola, principal of Weirton Elementary School, has been named Hancock County Schools’ Principal of the Year. This honor recognizes Dr. Mirasola’s outstanding leadership, dedication to students and staff, and unwavering commitment to the WES community.

Dr. Mirasola has served Weirton Elementary School with passion, compassion, and a vision focused on student success. Under her leadership, WES has continued to grow as a supportive, student-centered school where children are encouraged to learn, lead, and thrive.

Throughout her time at WES, Dr. Mirasola has worked tirelessly to build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the community. She consistently promotes a positive school culture and encourages collaboration, innovation, and excellence in all areas of education.

Her leadership has helped support many successful initiatives at WES, including family engagement events, student recognition programs, literacy and math support initiatives, and partnerships that provide additional resources for students and families.

Dr. Mirasola’s dedication to education and her commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for children make her truly deserving of this recognition.
