Reading

Ahoy, Weirton Elementary Families!

Get ready to set sail on our Summer Reading Treasure Challenge!

This summer, students will travel across their treasure map by reading books from different genres like mysteries, fairytales, nonfiction, poetry, and more! Each time they finish a book, they can mark an X on their map and log the title on the back. While taking pictures with their Long John Silver's hat along the way.

When students return to school in the fall with their completed map and reading log, they will earn a special reward for becoming official Reading Treasure Explorers! ✨

To help families participate, we are sending home:

A Summer Reading Treasure Map

A Reading Log

Book Suggestions for Each Genre

QR Codes to Listen to Stories Online

Families are also encouraged to visit the wonderful resources at the Mary H. Weir Public Library throughout the summer!

Be sure to watch the fun kickoff video below to learn more about the challenge!

We can’t wait to see our students discover that reading truly is the greatest treasure of all!

Big thank you to our Weirton Long John Silver's for donating the hats for our Summer Reading Treasure Challenge!
