WES PTA is hosting a Spirit Wear Fundraiser for families and community members who would like to show their Weirton pride! The online store offers a variety of Weirton Elementary/Red Riders designs and apparel options that are great for school spirit days, Weir athletic events, and everyday wear.
A few things to know:
Anyone can order — you do not have to have a student at WES.
Items are available for the whole family.

🚍🦁 4th Grade Field Trip – Chaperones Needed! 🐧🐘
Our 4th graders are excited to visit the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and we’re looking for a few amazing parent/guardian volunteers to help make the day fun, safe, and memorable! 💙
🕗 Trip Details:
📍 Meet at WES at 8:00 AM
🦒 Stay with students and staff throughout the trip
🚌 Depart the zoo between 12:00–1:00 PM
📌 Chaperone Information:
❤️ Chaperones MUST be an active PTA member.
🚗 Chaperones must provide their own transportation.
🎟️ Admission is $15 per chaperone.
🥪 Please bring your own lunch.
Each 4th grade classroom is requesting 3–4 parent/guardian chaperones. At this time, we’re simply collecting names of those interested. Submitting your name does not guarantee selection, as final assignments will be made closer to the trip.
If more volunteers sign up than spots available, we may:
✨ Place volunteers in another 4th grade classroom, or
🎲 Randomly select names to ensure fairness.
📝 Please respond by Thursday, October 1, 2026.

WES Attendance Spirit Week- September 8-11. Every Student Matters. Every DAY Counts!

🖤❤️Hancock County Schools are joining together in the month of September to collect tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Ronald McDonald House pull tab program turns aluminum tabs from soda, soup, and pet food cans into money to help families of sick children. This is the simplest gesture to help families in need for those unexpected emergencies and need to stay at a home away from home. These tabs help go towards the payment to house a family in those crucial times. For many families, this will be super easy if it's something they already have at their house. We plan to collect vigorously the entire month of September. Please send in tabs with your child to turn into their homeroom teacher! ❤️🖤

Students in grades 1–4 can:

✅ Pick up informational packets
✅ Receive car rider/bus stop information
✅ Get bus and car rider tags for their bookbags
✅ PTA sign-ups & merchandise sale
✅ Enjoy a popsicle!
Pre‑K and Kindergarten Families:
You are welcome to attend Popsicles with Principals; however, teacher assignments and informational packets for Pre‑K and Kindergarten will be shared at a later date. Your child’s teacher will notify you of their homeroom assignment. Pre‑K and K students will receive their back‑to‑school packets, bus/car rider tags, and other items on that later date.
We can’t wait to see our students and families as we celebrate the start of a fantastic 2026–2027 school year!
If you cannot make this event all homeroom assignments, bus numbers/routes, and informational packets will be left outside under the front cover of the school throughout the evening and all weekend.
